Between the Self and the World gathers a selection of works that reflect Mario Dávalos’s ongoing negotiation between two inner forces: the artist compelled by introspection and gesture, and the businessman shaped by clarity, structure, and responsibility. His self-portraits become moments of pause, instances where these competing currents surface in the gaze he directs toward himself.
As the exhibition unfolds, the paintings move gradually outward shiffting from the private realm of self-reflection to wider terrains of landscape, figure, and atmosphere. They reveal how an inner tension, between intuition, discipline, freedom and order, finds form on the canvas.
